The Great Coffee Price Rise of 2025

The Great Coffee Price Rise of 2025

The global coffee industry is facing significant challenges at current and pricing has reached an all-time high. The dramatic increase in the market price of coffee is having a significant effect on coffee sourcing for both importers and roasters and these costs are now being felt further down the supply chain.

The reason for these pricing increases is complex and multi-faceted.

Brazil, the largest coffee producer, has faced multiple climate adversities and extreme weather in the last two years, leading to supply shortages and rising costs. For example, the period between November 2024 to February 2025 has seen the cost of green bean rapidly increase by over 50% to an all-time high (see graph below showing Coffee C-Price USD/lb).

The current coffee price surge can be summarised by the following factors:

  • Global coffee supply shortages caused by severe droughts and frosts have drastically reduced coffee yields and disrupted production cycles

  • Harvest projections are very low for the 2025-2026 season

  • Global demand continues to rise, putting extra pressure on supply chains and increasing price volatility

  • Coffee availability is at risk due to supply not meeting demand, pushing costs higher for everyone in the industry

  • Coffee farmers and exporters are holding onto stock waiting for prices to continue to rise, leading to even more uncertainty of coffee availability

Whilst no one wants to see another increase in the cost of living, the global market is complex and it is hard to tell if and when we will see these coffee prices stabilise. In the meantime, it is important that our business, and our customers, continue to adapt to these changes.

Despite these challenges, it is our firm commitment that our coffee remains consistent in quality, performance and sustainability. Whilst others are taking a path that focuses on their bottom line, we are doing our best to adapt and change our practices so we can still focus on maintaining our business pillars of ethical and sustainable sourcing.

We are committed to finding a workable, fair and reasonable price for all parties, in order for all businesses to survive through this time; from coffee farmers, importers, roasters, cafes and finally through to you, the consumer.

Where you spend your dollar is more important now than ever. So if you have any questions, please get in touch with us and we would be happy to have a chat.
